Outdoor Research Men's Foray II Jacket - Waterproof & Breathable Rain Jacket for Hiking, Camping & Outdoor Adventures

Outdoor Research makes some of the best outdoor wear imaginable. This Gore-Tex Foray II rain jacket is definitely a cut above the rest in terms of fit, features, and color. I was looking for a rain jacket that would keep me completely dry in pouring rain (which this does), while also having enough zippers to open the jacket up when the rain stops. This jacket doesn't merely have "pit zips," it has full length side zippers that turn the jacket into a "poncho." Incidentally, this is the second Foray II rain jacket I purchased -- this one for my wife. Unfortunately, Outdoor Research decided to eliminate the incredibly beautiful green color, called "sprout," from its available color options. So if you like the green "sprout" color as much as we do, you'd better order one before the stock is depleted.Great rain jacket. I love the 2 layer Goretex, it keeps me dry, allows airflow, and doesn't make the swishy noise when moving, of the 3 layer Goretex jackets. I'm amazed how lightweight this jacket is, and yet how effective it is at keeping moisture out. The adjustability of the hood, makes it so much more useful to me. I don't think this jacket would keep one warm in very cool weather, but it's not designed for that. I read somewhere that you can stuff this coat into the left front pocket, and it's true you can; but it's not designed for doing that and the pocket's zipper is non-functional when it's inside out, so it leaves an open pouch. I don't recommend doing that. Buy a small stuff sack if you must. I highly recommend this jacket, very lightweight and functional, and looks great as well!Really great jacket! It fits very well and has held up to heavy rain. I use it as a day to day rain jacket as well as for back packing and hiking. Summer has been great with this gear added. Definitely recommend.Wore this to the top of Mt. Fuji. Packed down small and weighs little. The side zips were great to keep the wind off and the body heat down. Once we reached the summit it was snowing and while zipped down and hood on it keep me comfortably warm. The hood is nice and large to either adjust to size or wear a toboggan under. Had some light rain on the way down the mountain and the rain just beaded and rolled off. Seams are well done and expect this one to last. Outdoor Research got this one right.Best waterproof jacket for heavy rainy days. A little crinkly due to the gore-tex but that's expected.The folds into it's own small pocket for storage, it's nice to keep in my backpack since it doesn't take up much space. Seems to be well made. Kept me dry while hiking in several showers.
