I wore this jacket everyday on a hiking trip to Patagonia ( December '15). Kept me warm and protected in chilly temps ( 40s & 50s) and intense winds when I wore it as an outer layer with a light fleece mid layer. Water resistant but NOT waterproof. You will definitely need a rain shell when it rains. Because the collar is lined with soft fleece it's super soft and warm around the neck and chin area when you zip it up with & without the hood which is adjustable and will fit over a helmet if needed. Super comfortable and stylish (form fitting). Don't let the price scare you. This jacket delivers and seems to be very durable. Much warmer and better wind protection than most other synthetic jackets out there. I also have the Patagonia Nano Air (like a fellow traveler on my Patagonia trip), but my Uberlayer was clearly the better choice in terms of warmth, wind protection, and comfort (moves with you). I love it! It seems true to size. I am 5'5" 108 lbs and the small is perfect with plenty of room to layer, but you won't need many layers if you're doing active outdoor activities. It lets warm air out when you're active and locks it in when you're not. So glad I bought this jacket!I seriously doubted the warmth of such a thin jacket and really didn't want to like it because of the price, but it does exactly what it promises. Breathes when you're moving to keep you from sweating and keeps you warm when you're standing still. I use this as a mid layer when I'm hiking and wear a hard shell over top to protect from wind and rain. Excellent fabric is resistant to the normal hazards of mountain hiking! Love this jacket! I got the XS and it's form fitting (supposed to be) with room underneath for a base layer and even another layer of fleece depending on outdoor temps. Arm length is perfect for me. I'm 5'1", 105, 32B, 24, 36 with a full butt (no other way to say it) athletic curvy figure. Worth every penny in my opinion.I have the Ascendant hoody in XS which fit my 5’4”, 112lb (not curvy) frame well. I understood that this one fits narrower in the chest than the Ascendant based on the OR website. What it should have mentioned was that this fit very short (the picture is misleading). I Have neither a long nor short torso, and I’ve never encountered this before. It fit about 2” below my belly button. The fleece hoody I was wearing stuck out few inches below this jacket. I didn’t really notice this fitting any tighter than the Ascendant, and the sleeves were long enough for my monkey arms. I’m not sure why it’s so short because even if I were to wear it in a backpacking situation the hip straps would rub over the hem. I loved the purple colour and the soft feel of the fabric but ultimately returned it. I love Outdoor Research clothing and no doubt of its quality but this was a miss for me.Light weight, breathes and quick drying. Keeps out the rain wind and cold.Wore with wool baselayer and flannel shirt in 45 degree weather with light rain and high wind and stayed warm/dry.Great for hiking and backpacking. 2 large mesh interior pockets.Love the color, fit in the hips is a little narrow...I am 5"9 and ordered a med the fit tailored. This is my favorite winter jacket for winter backcountry activities. It's lightweight and warm. It's also breathable when I break a sweat. I wear a merino wool base layer underneath. Both are work great for a variety of temperatures. The fabric is soft and very flexible. It packs away well.Love this jacket.
