Now onto the bag. First impressions are really good, no loose threading or defects. Doesn't break your bank while holding up. Good amount of room, organization and really cool that it has a solid wall on the back so this can stand a bit and not so floppy like other shoulder bags that have no reinforcements when empty which is not a deal breaker but is appreciated. If I could modify or change anything, it would be the strap. The strap is good no mistake, and sturdy tho I'd prefer a wider strap for comfort. Bery generous when it comes to room, big enough for books and magazine paper backs. Above all this is a product I found really great for the money.This is an all around great bag: the strap is adjustable, the fabric seems durable, there is a smaller pocket on the front for storing pens and small items, and the large compartment has plenty of room. I got this to be able to bring a notebook, some pens, my phone, and maybe a jacket to class with me instead of an all-out backpack and it works perfectly. The bag is not to big but has plenty of room, and the large compartment has a divider so you can keep it all organized. The strap can be un-clipped from the bag should you ever need to replace it, but the strap seems nice and sturdy. The backing is also sturdy which gives you a good on the go writing surface. Over all I'm super happy with this. It looks great and better yet has great functionality.I actually like this bag, but if you read the one-star ratings like I do at least you'll be forewarned if you decide to buy it. I had to buy this one twice. The first time whoever packaged it removed it from the plastic bag it comes in and jammed it into an envelope that was not quite as large as the product. They then taped the envelope shut. Obviously, I was unaware of any of this when I received the package and proceeded to cut the tape on the envelope. Of course the scissors caught the edge of the bag, which was lurking just below the surface. After a lot of back and forth with their customer service, sending photos of the damage, describing the incident in great detail, they basically told me I was an idiot for using scissors to open their package and everything was my fault and they were not going to work with me. Sadly, because I needed this for my husband's birthday, I decided to go ahead and order a second one and just use greater caution when opening the package. The second one was packaged a little better; at least they left the bag in its protective plastic covering before stuffing it into an undersized envelope. After I placed the second order, they emailed again and said they'd be willing to cover the cost of a replacement, but I would have to pay shipping. I told them I had already ordered another one and never heard from them again. Too little too late. At least my husband is happy with it. Anyway, I have a slightly damaged bag if anyone would like it. :-)Very simple bag and good for carrying a few items. I have had no real issues with it so far. Only complaint is that it would be nice if the strap was a bit thicker. Don't need a heavy duty strap but the current one will cut in with any weight at all. Maybe like 1.5-2x larger would be ideal. Also the flaps on the sides never know which way to go and will sometimes stick out awkwardly.The look and fabric give an authentic feel to this case, however the quality of the material isn't up to par with one I had in the military. After only 3 months, the fabric is beginning to show signs of wear with only light use. I put my original map case through way more aggressive use and exposed it to the elements and it held up for many years. Hopefully nothing else breaks on it because I do enjoy using it.My partner picked this out for me for a trip and I really liked it the size was great and the compartments allowed me to keep items separate and more organized. I really liked that it had a rigid backing I was able to tuck lots of postcards as well as some small prints safely against the backing and they were not bent at all.The Canvas Map Case Military Shoulder Bag, Olive Drab is NOT the same thing as a Canvas Map Case (WWII US M-1936 MAP CASE WWII OFFICER MAP DISPATCH CASE 1942 BOYT M-1928) that I was expecting, but it will work for my requitrments.Amazon photo implies it is the same.Seller contacted me via e-mail and explanation was exceptional.Great bag. Durable and feels better than Rothco version.
