The brim of the hat is far too downward-facing. In fact, there’s virtually no horizontal tilt to the brim at all with the brim descending flat onto the forehead. This makes the hat wear more like a bucket hat than a visor-brimmed winter hat. More silly than cute. Beyond that, I suppose the hat would functionally keep warm the head of your child, should you be able to convince the kid to wear this silly thing. This has been a great hat for our finicky 2 year old (who is as big as our 4 year old). He normally hates anything on his head, but has taken to this hat. It's just long enough to cover his ears when we need it to and provides a good bit of warmth for our mild winters.I love this hat for my son so much! I bought 2Get so many compliments on this hat. Great fit. This was a replacement purchase for the hat I thought I had lost. My son had worn this hat since he was 6 months old. When we lost the original he cried and cried. Luckily we found the lost hat but I have kept this replacement just in case. He's now 5 and the hat is in as good of shape as when we first bought it. Outdoor Research has never let me down.
