This rim was even better than I expected. I just couldn't get myself to pay $200+ for a break-away rim. But my backboard mounting system was SO stiff, that I really wanted something with a little give. But after looking online, it seemed that the only break-away rims that were under $100 were meant for specific backboards and had odd bolt spacing and would not fit standard, full-sized backboards. Then I saw this one, and it had slotted mounting holes that could work with anything from 4"-5".Sure enough, it fit my backboard perfectly! The only thing that gave me pause were the loops that hold the net on. They are not the typical rolled-wire type and I was worried that maybe the net loops could bounce out under use. But it's been a few months of regular use, and so far so good! Their unique design seems to work just as well.I was pleasantly surprised at the overall quality and toughness. This is only a single spring, not a double like some very expensive hoops. It also doesn't have the little cover plate on the bottom that makes it look slightly more clean (but for $100 less, that doesn't matter to me much). But other than that, this is a tough hoop and the strength of the materials was good as was the quality of craftsmanship. As far as I can tell, this is a hoop that is as tough as most commercial level hoops at less than half of the cost.
