Ear flap caps can be a mixed bag. Without a strap to keep them down, wind can get in and negate any warmth kept in by the flaps.In this case, this is a light cap which does not try to be blizzard ready, so the flaps work well in conditions the rest of the cap also works well in: Light snow, no or low wind, no lower than 0C/32F (for me).Flaps are held up by good snaps, and secure on the outside - which is an advantage as inside flaps make the hat either too small with the flaps up or too large with them down.
