It took a long time for the product to arrive from overseas. It's definitely high quality and waterproof. My hat size is 7 3/8 and this XL can be pulled down to my ears. The XL I purchased is loose when it sits on my head where a hat normally sits; I wanted that fit to give me the option of wearing a merino wool beanie while hiking in the snow or rain. Perfect. It's stylish too; no problem wearing this around town. The brim is a perfect length; just a tad longer than I'm used to with a "bucket hat" design, which takes it out of the 'dorky' looking hat category.Received this hat & a couple days later it was raining pretty hard & I couldn’t wait to try it out ,now for the test!:)the rain just rolled right off of it . It didn’t even get wet & soak in . Very happy with purchase .I walk to work and needed something compact to put into my backpack and that kept the rain off my head-this small bucket hat worked like a charm. Great product, keeps the West Coast rain downpours off my head and allows me to see without a big overhang in front. Love it and am taking it on my travels with me in the future!Bought this hat for a trip to England and Scotland. Picked this one because it was sized (one size DOES NOT fit all). This one in small fit well and kept my head dry through all the rains we encountered. And it rained bloody heck in Edinburgh. I'll be on the lookout for more Outdoor Research products.This hat has come in handy many times. Easy to carry in purse or bag and is great when you don’t have your umbrella. The chin strap keeps the wind from blowing it off your head so no running!I love the magenta "crocus" color(my computer screen reflects the color accurately), and the fact that the hat gives sun and rain protection. The ties for under the chin keep it on in windy weather. I bought the largest size because I don't like a tight band around my head, and the ties keep it on even though it's not a tight fit.Edited to add: I must not have noticed that this is a man's hat before I bought it. I'm female, and I thought it looked feminine because of the color.Second hat of this exact type. I just ordered another for a back up. I sometimes misplace one and always now have a spare. Easy to keep in a purse and keeps your head dry.Remember this is sized a little large to be a men's hat or unisex. Love the colors and subtle check pattern. Great packable hat for rainy Europe trips.
