Description

Made with a smart expedition-worthy design, the fully seam taped Prismatic Cap is built with a waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX outer and Radiant Fleece ear band that folds into the hat. A structured plastic brim deflects light snow and shields glare and the one-hand back adjustment makes it easy to cinch up the fit on the go.

UPDATE -- November 2021 -have had this had an amazing 3 years and it performs flawlessly. yes it is warm above 40 degrees but it is absolutely WINDPROOF and highly water resistant (have never had it in a down pour only lighter rains). while initially disappointed to not be just a gore hat, the lining has made this hat a staple in all seasons. it causes me to sweat when worn under my bike helmet but it provide better warmth than the strictly gore bike hat i now have to wear above 60 degrees. am very sad to have lost my other black OR gore hat with the better back clasp, but like all my OR gear, they live up to their description for many many years. give them a go and you too will come to love them over the likes of Mountain Hardware or Marmot and on occasion, Patagonia.First Impressions - 2018 -i wanted a straight up gore hat. the liner may be nice in winter months (if ears are windproof), but as of now, this won't help as i cannot wear the hat until in the 30's. i had a hat with a better adjuster in back and longer bill in front. this bill is deceptively short, unlike the pic. and the material feels thinner and cheap compared to the one i had and lost.My goal was to find a low profile winter hat that would shed snow, ice, rain and wind. Also part of my plan was to be able to wear it with a balaclava for chin and neck protection. Even though the hat adjusts, I wanted something that would be snug and fit properly. I lucked out. It fits perfectly under the "Maxit Hothead Balaclava", and matches in color (black). It does just what I wanted, not only in size, but in wind protection and precipitation protection. I would buy it again, but based on construction my guess is that I won't have to.Warm, sheds water/snow, and I like that the ear flaps can be tucked into the hat. The crown is a little high for my taste, but otherwise, it's a great hat.I love this hat. It is completely waterproof--I know because I live in Seattle & it's been one of the wettest winters. It doesn't matter how hard it is raining--my noggin stays dry. The inside is soft and comfortable and not the slightest bit itchy. The ear flaps keep my ears warm and dry. The fit is perfect, but it's nice that it has a little drawstring cord in back in case you need to adjust it. I'm going to get a lot of wear out of this item. I've only had it a month, and I already wear it a lot.Buy one larger size than you think you need, and you will be fine. I like this cap a lot, although it does stick up a little more on top than a regular baseball cap due to the additional insulation (of course). This takes a bit getting used to, but all in all I like it a lot.Insulated and lined for temps probably around 20 deg F. Water just bounces off. Doesn't make my head sweat like most waterproof hats.Small range adjustable drawstring in back allows for increased 'clamping force' in windy conditions. A large fit fine for my 71/4 squash.Great cover for cold weather. The ear flaps need to be a little warmer and I wish it could be vented somehow. The hat seems pretty goo d but then large one is not very large! I usually use about an 8 and this does not even come close. It does fit my wife ( she does not have a large squash like mine) so we kept it. The large is medium at best. Love this hat! Great for the rain and with the ear flaps great for the cold.Fit was good, hat is warm and water proof.
